Collection : The drug is collected in autumn when ripe, remove from foreign matter and dried in the sun.
Description : Ovoid or subspherical, 1.5mm in diameter. Externally greyish brown with dark purple and slightly protuberant reticulate striations, base slightly acute with greyish white and pointed fruit stalk scar. Pericarp thin and fragile, easily broken, seeds yellowish white, testa membranous, cotyledons 2, whitish and oily, odor aromatic on pressing, taste slightly pungent.
Identification :
Processing : Eliminate foreign matter, wash, clean and dry.Stir fried: stir fry as described under the method of simple stir frying (Appendix ll D) until the drug burst.
Action : To relieve dyspnea and cough, to eliminate phlegm, and to relax bowels.

Dosage : 3 to 9 g.
Storage : Preserve in a ventilated and dry place, protected from moth.
