Scientific Name:
Collection  : The drug is collected in autumn after the withering of the stem and leaf, or in next spring when seedling is emerging, remove from soil and dried.

Description  : Irregularly tubercular, cylindrical or somewhat twisted, branched, 3 - 10 cm long, 1 - 2 cm in diameter. Externally brown or dark brown, rough with longitudinal wrinkles. The upper part remaining some sunken and rounded stem bases. The lower part bearing numerous dotted, prominent root scars and radial roots. Texture light relatively hard, easily broken. Fracture yellow or yellowish white fibrous. Odour, strongly aromatic. Taste pungent bitter and slightly numbling.

Identification  :

Processing  : Eliminate foreign matter, wash soften thoroughly, cut into thick slices and dry in the sun.

Action  : To relieve pain by dispelling wind, cold and damp.

Indication  : pain at the top of the head in colds; rheumatic arthralgia

Precautions  :

Dosage  : 3 to 9 g.

Storage  : Preserve in a cool and dry place, protected from moisture and moth.
