Collection : The stem is collected from late summer to autumn and dried in the sun, the pith is taken out, arranged and ligated into small bundle.
Description : Slenderly cylindrical up to 90cm long, 0.1 - 0.3cm in diameter. Externally white or pale yellowish white, finely striated longitudinally. Texture light, soft, slightly elastic, easily broken, fracture white. Odourless and tasteless.
Identification :
Processing : Eliminate foreign matter and cut into sections.Carbonized: Calcine as described under the method for carbonizing by calcining (Appendix ll D).
Action : To eliminate excess fire in the heart, and to induce diuresis.
Indication : fidgetness and insomnia with oliguria and painful and difficult urination or with ulceration in the mouth or on the tongue
Precautions :
Dosage : 1 to 3 g.
Storage : Preserve in a dry place.
