Scientific Name:
Collection  : The drug is collected in early summer when it turns from green to greenish yellow. Remove from fruit stalk and leaf, treated with boiling water for a moment or steamed briefly and dried.

Description  : Aggregate fruit consisting of numerous small drupes, conical and flattened-conical, 0.6 - 1.3cm high, 0.5 - 1.2cm in diameter. Externally yellowish green or pale brown, apex obtuse, base depressed in the center. Persistent calyx brown with scar of fruit stalk. Drupelets easily fallen, lunate, dorsal surface densely covered with greyish white pubescences, reticulate striations distinct on both sides, ventral surface with prominent ridges. Texture light, odor slight, taste slightly sour and astringent.

Identification  : Powder: Brownish yellow, non-glandular hairs unicellular. 60 - 450µm long, 12 - 20µm in diameter, walls strongly thickened, lignified, mostly with double spiral striations, the upper part of some hairs easily fallen off and the remains embeded in epidermis, round polygonal or oblong in surface view up to about 23µm in diameter. Lumina branched, similar to stone cells in shape. Cluster of calcium oxalate frequently visible. 18 - 50µm in diameter. Fibres of pericarp yellow, crisscross or ebliquely alternate.

Processing  :

Action  : To benefit the kidney, and arrest seminal discharge and exceesive urination.

Indication  : enuresis, frequent urination, impotence, premature ejaculation, seminal emission and spermatorrhea in deficiency syndrome of the kidney

Precautions  :

Dosage  : 6 to 12 g.

Storage  : Preserve in a dry place.
