Collection  : The fruit is collected when ripe, the seed is removed from sarcocarp and shell (endocarp) and dried in the sun.

Description  : Seed of Prunus persicae: 1.2 - 1.8cm long. 0.8 - 1.2 wide, 0.2 - 0.4 cm thick. Externally yellowish brown to reddish brown with numerous granular protrudings. One end acute, expanded in the middle, the other end obtuse rounded and slightly oblique with relatively thin edge. A short linear hilum occurring by the acute and a relatively distinct and slightly dark chalaza at the round end with many longitudinal vascular bundles radiated from chalaza, testa thin , 2 cotyledons almost white and oily, odour weak and taste slightly bitter.Seed of prunus davidiana: Sub-ovoid, smaller but thicker, about 0.9 cm long, 0.7 cm wide and 0.5 cm thick.

Identification  : Powdered or isolated tissue of testa , Seed of Prunus persica: Stone cells yellowish brown, conchoidal, helmet shape or elliptic in lateral view, 54 - 153 µm high up to 180µm wide at the base with one sider, wall thicker and more densely striated than the other side, sub-rounded, rounded, polygonal or sub-square in surface view with large and dense pits in the cell bottom walls.Powdered testa of Seed of Prunus davidiana: Stone cells pale yellow, orange yellow or orange red, conchoidal, oblong, elliptic or stripe shape in lateral view, 81 - 198 - 279µm high about 128 (-198)µm wide, sub-rounded, sub-hexagonal, prolately polygonal or sub-square in surface view with smaller pits in unevenly thickened bottom walls.Foreign matter: Not more than 1% (Appendix 1X A)

Processing  : Eliminate foreign matters, break into pieces before use.Blanched in boiling water: Peel as described under the method for rinsing in boiling water (Appendix 11 D). Break to pieces before use.Stir fried: Stir fry the water rinsed Semen Persicae as described under the method for simple stir frying (Appendix 11 D) to yellow color. Break to pieces before use.

Action  : To promote blood circulation, to eliminate phlegm, an dto relax the bowels.

Indication  : amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, mass formation in the abdomen, traumatic injuries; constipation

Precautions  :

Dosage  : 4.5 to 9 g.

Storage  : Preserve in a ool and dry place, protected from moth.
