Scientific Name:
Collection  : The drug is collected in summer and autumn, removed from root and leaf and dried in the sun.

Description  : Flattened-cylindrical, slightly curved, 15-60cm long, 0.3-2cm in diameter, externally greyish-brown or brown, rough with longitudinally ridged striations and distinct nodes. Internodes 3-12cm long, nodes swollen, bearing adventitious roots. Texture light, fragile, easily broken, fracture uneven, bark narrow, wood broad, greyish-yellow, vessels numerous, rays greyish white, arrange radially, usually cleft between the bark wood, pith in the center, greyish brown. Odour, aromatic, taste slightly bitter and pungent.

Processing  : Eliminate foreign matter, soak, soften thoroughly, cut into thick slices and dry in the sun.

Action  : To relieve rheumatic conditions.

Dosage  : 6 to 12 g.
