Scientific Name:
Collection  : The drug is collected in autumn, washed clean, heated with boiling water briefly and dried.

Description  : Elongated elliptical, 2-5cm long, 1-2cm wide, 3-4mm thick at the middle, externally whitish, pale brownish-yellow or purplish with several longitudinal and paralleled white vascular bundles. Apex somewhat acute, base relatively broad, thin margins, undulate, slightly curved inwards. Texture: hard and fragile, fracture relatively even, horny, odorless and taste slightly bitter.

Processing  : Bulbus Lilii eliminate foreign matters.Bulbus Lilii (honeyed) stir fry the clean Bulbus Liliii as describe under the method for stir-frying with honey (Appendix ll D) to no longer sticky, using 5kg of refined honey per 100kg of Bulbus Lilii.

Action  : To nourish yin and moisture the lung, and to tranquilize th emind.

Indication  : deficiency of yin with chronic cough and bloody sputum; fidgetness, palpitation, insomnia. Dream-disturbed sleep and absent-mindedness

Precautions  :

Dosage  : 6 to 12 g.
