Collection : The drug is collected at flowering and dried in the sun.
Description : White pubescent entirely, stems cylindrical with longitudinal ridges, 2 - 5mm in diameter. Externally greenish brown or dark green. Leaves opposite, almost sessile, lamina crumpled and rolled or broken when whole,long-lanceolate, margins entire or dentrate, dark green. Capitulum 2 - 6mm in diameter. Achenia elliptical and flattened, 2 - 3mm long, brown or pale brown, odour slight, taste slightly salty.
Identification : 1.Infuse in water and rub the stems and leaves, a dark green color is produced2.Leaf surface view: Non-glandular hairs frequently 3-celled, 260 - 700µm long, basal cells slightly inflated, middle cells longer, walls thickened with prominent warts, apical cells acute and short, subrectangular, stomata anomocytic with 3 - 4 subsidiary cells.
Processing : Eliminate foreign matter, wash briefly, cut into sections and dry in the sun.
Action : To replenish the liver and the kidney, and to arrest bleeding by removing heat from blood.
Indication : looseness of teeth, premature greying of hair and beard; dizziness, tinnitus, aching and weakness of loins and knees; spitting of blood, epistaxis, hematuria and diarrhea with bloody stools due to heat in the blood; abnormal uterine bleeding, traumatic bleeding
Precautions :
Dosage : 6 to 12 g; appropriate quantity of the fresh herb for external use.
Storage : Preserve in a ventilated dry place.
