Collection  : The fruit is collected in autumn and winter when ripe, dried in the sun and the seed in gathered and dried again in the sun.

Description  : Flattened-ellipsoidal or flattened ovoid, 8 - 13 mm long, 6 - 9 mm wide, about 7 mm thick. Externally pale yellowish white or pale yellow, smooth, somewhat lustrous with a white prominent eyebrow shape caruncle at the edge of one side. Texture hard, testa thin and brittle, 2 cotyledons, plump, yellowish white, slight odor, taste weak, bean like in chewing.

Identification  : Transverse section. Epidermis of 1 layer palisade cells, 2 layer at hilum, light bend distinct. Supporting cells 1 layers, dumbell shaped. 3 - 5 layers at hilum. Parenchyma of 10 layers of cells, located under supporting cells, the inner ones obiterate. Cells of cotyledons containing numerous starch granules. The outer part of palisade cells at hilum with caruncle. The inner part with tracheid islet. Illiptical walls reticularly thickened with stellate tissue at two sides, cells stellate with large intercellular space, some lumen containing brown contents.

Processing  : Elliminate foreign matters, break into pieces before use.Stir fried Semen Lablab Album: Stir fry as described under the method for simple stir frying (Appendix ll D) until it becomes yellowish with charred spots. Break to pieces before use.

Action  : To invigorate the spleen an dremove damp, particularly the summer-damp. Semen Album (stir-fried): To invigorate the spleen and remove damp.

Indication  : weakness of the spleen and stomach with loss of appetite and lose bowels; excessive leukorrhea; vomiting, diarrhea, distress in the chest and distension in the abdomen caused by summer-damp

Precautions  :

Dosage  : 9 to 15 g.

Storage  : Preserve in a dry place, protected from moth.
