Collection : The drug is collected in summer, removed from foreign matter and dried.
Description : Mostly crumpled and rolled, some broken when whole, elliptical lanceolate or oavte lanceolate. 2 - 5cm long, 0.5 - 2cm wide, greenish or greyish green, apex obtuse and macronate, base obtuse or cuneate, margins serrulate, usually recurved, glabrous on both surfaces. Veins on lower surface prominent, petioles thin, about 4mm long, texture fragile, odor slight, taste weak.
Identification : Leaf in surface view, upper and lower epidermal cells polygonal, anticlinal walls straight, granular cuticular striated on surface, stomata paracytic. Transverse section: Epidermal cells flattened with convex outer waqlls. The mesophyll consisting of upper and dlower palisadew layer usually with two rows of palisade cells under upper epidermis and 1 row under lower epidermis. The cells very short, spongy tissue of 2 - 4 rows of cells containing brown contents. The vascular bundle of midrib bicolateral, laticiferous tubes surrounding it and also scattered in phloem.
